  |     |   Local Events, Pets

The Crest Hill Branch Library is excited to announce one of the biggest library dog adoption events of the year, Dog Days of Summer!

Doggone It

This local library, just down the road from Woodlands of Crest Hill, has gone to the dogs with the biggest dog adoption event at a public library in the United States! With an all-dogs theme and events, it will take place on:

Saturday, August 28, 2021, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

The Dogs Will Do It All

The massive outdoor yard will feature numerous dog rescue organizations, as well as veterinary services for you and your pup. Small businesses will feature booths and local products. Library-related activities will take place and there will be items such as no-bake, dog-safe treats to make yourself. You can create your own bandanas for you and your dog, and he or she can take place in a peanut butter licking competition. If you and your dog feel like dressing to the nines, there will also be costume contests, a contest for best trick, a mini agility course for the athletes out there, raffles, and more. This event is in celebration of National Dog Day, which is August 26th. Come support your local puppies. Petsmart Joliet is the big sponsor of the event, and they are providing doggie grab bags for the first 200 people!

Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow will take the main stage as a speaker, with his League of Extraordinary Canines to open the event. They will be followed by Deacon Kevin O'Donnell of St. Bernadette Church in Evergreen Park, offering pet blessings to anyone interested.

Various presentations will take place on the main stage, and a dog food and supply drive is happening all month to support the Wet Nose Food Pantry.

Check out and follow the Dog Days of Summer Facebook page to stay up to date with what's going on with this event and others to follow.
